Former Miami Dolphins DE Quentin Moses dies in house fire

Former Miami Dolphins and Georgia Bulldogs defensive end Quentin Moses died Sunday morning in a house fire in Monroe, Ga.

Moses, 33, was found unconscious and moved outside the house but was pronounced dead at Clearview Medical Center, officials said.

Two adults and a child were killed in the house fire that started about 6 a.m. Sunday. Fire chief Keith Glass said the house was fully engulfed with flames when firefighters responded and the roof collapsed as they battled to bring the fire under control.

Andria Godard, 31, and her 10-year-old daughter Jasmine Godard were found dead inside the home.

Moses played at Georgia from 2003-06, making 11.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss. He was a first-team All-SEC defensive end on Georgia's SEC championship team in 2005.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, who was an assistant coach on the Bulldogs' team in 2005, reacted on Twitter about Moses' death.

"Very saddened to learn of the tragic death this morning of Quentin Moses," Smart tweeted. "Thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this difficult time."

Moses was selected in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. He was waived before playing a game for the Raiders and wound up in Miami, where he spent four seasons (2007-10) and had 3.5 sacks for the Dolphins in 44 games.

Moses also was an assistant football coach at Reinhardt University.
