Feb. 9 (UPI) -- First it was Larry Fitzgerald and now it's Carson Palmer.

The Arizona Cardinals offense for 2017 is coming back together, after the quarterback announced he would return to the team next season.

"My intent was to take some time after the season to get away and see where I was physically and mentally," Palmer told AZCardinals.com. "On both fronts, I can say I'm ready to get back to work and prepare for the 2017 season. This is a phenomenal group with a very special opportunity in front of it. I know how rare that is and I couldn't be more excited to be a part of it."

Palmer is due $15.5 million next season. That salary is guaranteed on Friday. The 37-year-old was bruised and battered last season after getting sacked 40 times. He was sacked 25 times in 2016.

The Cardinals' veteran gunslinger missed one game due to a concussion this season. He completed 364-of-597 passes for 4,233 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. The three-time Pro Bowl selection threw for 4,671 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 2015. Palmer also led the NFL in QBR and yards per attempt that season.

Palmer is signed through 2018. Fitzgerald, a finalist for the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year award, announced his return on Wednesday.

Palmer has played 13 NFL seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals, Oakland Raiders, and Cardinals.
