Embattled Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon wasn't invited to this month's NFL scouting combine, USA Today reported Friday.

The publication also reported that Baylor receiver Ishmael Zamora wasn't invited due to his well-publicized off-the-field incident.

Mixon broke four bones in the face of Oklahoma student Amelia Molitor with a punch in July 2014. The video of the punch was released in December and increased heat on Sooners coach Bob Stoops for not dismissing Mixon from the program.

The NFL implemented a rule last year that prohibits players who are convicted of crimes like domestic assault and sexual assault from attending the festivities.

Mixon accepted a plea that didn't involve admitting guilt and he didn't serve jail time. But apparently the high-profile nature of his case led to the NFL's decision.

Mixon rushed for 1,274 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2016 as a third-year sophomore. He is expected to work out for scouts at Oklahoma's Pro Day on March 8.

Zamora served a three-game suspension during the 2016 season after video emerged showing him beating and kicking a dog. He was charged with a misdemeanor and was fined and served community service.

Zamora caught 63 passes for 809 yards and eight touchdowns in 2016 as a third-year sophomore.

The NFL combine is Feb. 28-March 6 in Indianapolis.
