Cleveland Browns likely to put franchise tag on Terrelle Pryor

By Alex Butler

Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Jack-of-all-trades wide receiver Terrelle Pryor should be back with the Cleveland Browns in 2017.

The Browns are "very likely" to place the franchise tag on Pryor, according to Jason La Canfora. He also reported that Pryor "would be crazy to sign something now."

Pryor, 27, told his agents that he wants to stay in Cleveland, according to the Akron-Beacon Journal.

"Absolutely," Pryor told reporters as players cleaned out their lockers, via Ohio.com. "I told them, and we've had a lot of conversations. At the end of the day, as you guys know, football is a business, and [a contract has] got to make sense for myself."

Pryor earned $1.67 million in 2016, according Sportrac.

"I'd love to play for Coach Hue. I loved playing with him this year, no matter what. Despite the 1-15 record, I'm not worried about that...I love this place. I love Cleveland. I love the fans here. It's amazing."

Pryor had seven receptions for 94 yards in the Browns' Week 17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had 1,007 yards and four touchdowns on 77 receptions in 2016. He became the second player in NFL history to have a 1,000-yard passing season and a 1,000-yard receiving season in his career.
