Jan. 23 (UPI) -- If Johnny Manziel can't crack an NFL roster, he might have a future in politics.
"Yo, POTUS even I know to stay away from the notifications section on twitter," Manziel tweeted. [Expletive] will drive you crazy, lead the country and let them hate."
He followed that tweet with: "Control what you can control and let the rest fall by the wayside."
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer agreed with Manziel's advice.
"When you're right, you're right. Johnny Manziel is right. (I can't believe i said that.)," Fleischer tweeted.
The Manziel-Trump bond has been public before. In 2014, prior to being drafted, Trump tweeted: "I think somebody should pick Johnny Football - he will be a star."
Manziel, 24, would go on to be the No. 22 selection overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. He hasn't played a snap since completing 147-of-258 passes for 1,675 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 15 career games from 2014 to 2015.
The free agent said he achieved sobriety without professional assistance, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.

He was also accused of domestic violence, allegedly got into a fight at a wedding, and has been involved in several other incidents this offseason. The former Heisman Trophy winner was suspended for four games in 2016 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Manziel reached a plea deal last month on the domestic violence charge in Dallas involving former girlfriend Colleen Crowley. He will avoid jail time as long as he meets conditions over a 12-month span. He was required to undergo counseling.
Trump, who officially took office Jan. 21, has more than 21.7 million followers on his @RealDonaldTrump Twitter account. His @POTUS account, which he took over from Barack Obama after being sworn in, has 14.3 million followers.
