OAKLAND, Calif., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The man who once said: "usually the team that scores the most points wins the game," had another hot take recently about the Oakland Raiders.

Former Raiders coach and announcer John Madden recently talked to SiriusXM NFL Radio about the Raiders' impressive season.

"You can't lose sight of the job that your team did, and what your coaches did, and organization did, and how well those players played and they're on the right road," Madden said. "They still won 12 games and it's good to see them back, and have them back," said Madden. "I think football... there's certain teams in the NFL that football is good when they're good, and I think, obviously I haven't been there, but I think the Raiders are one of them."

Madden, 80, led the Raiders to the 1976 Super Bowl and coached the team for 10 seasons, compiling a 103-32 record. He never had a losing record as a head coach. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

Last year, Madden was hospitalized with surgeries on his heart, hip, knee, and esophagus.

"I'm glad I think we're all finished; I hope so," Madden told Cam Inman of the Mercury News in November. "I've been through all that and am coming out the other end now. It's just good to get out and around and see people."

The Raiders battle the Houston Texans at 1:35 p.m. Saturday at NRG Stadium in an AFC Wild Card round matchup.
