New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is expected to interview with three NFL teams this weekend for their head-coaching openings.

McDaniels has officially scheduled interviews Saturday in Foxborough, Mass., with the Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers for their vacancies, a league source confirmed to the Boston Globe. The interviews will be conducted at a hotel near Gillette Stadium in separate suites.

Saturday is the only day that worked for McDaniels as Patriots coaches are due back Sunday to prepare for their divisional-round playoff game on Jan. 14.

Per NFL rule, assistant coaches and executives on teams in the playoffs can only interview while the team is on a bye -- through Sunday in this case.

Those three teams would then be able to interview McDaniels a second time in the week after the AFC title game -- if the Patriots advance to Super Bowl LI.

The 40-year-old McDaniels went 8-8 in his first season with the Denver Broncos but was fired the following season following a 3-9 start. He served one season as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with the Rams in 2011 before returning to the Patriots in 2012.

Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is expected to be on a similar schedule Saturday as he is set to interview with the San Diego Chargers and Rams for their head-coaching vacancies.

Patricia, 42, has been the defensive coordinator in New England since the 2012 season. He joined the Patriots as an offensive coaching assistant in 2004 and has also been an offensive line assistant, linebackers coach and safeties coach.

The 49ers also requested an interview with Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio for their general manager job, seeking to find a coach and GM with a strong relationship.

McDaniels, Patricia and Caserio can't be hired until the Patriots' season is complete.
