CHICAGO, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Despite posting a 3-13 record this year, Alshon Jeffery says the Chicago Bears will be world champions next season.

"I guarantee you we are going to win the Super Bowl next year," Jeffery told reporters Sunday after the Bears' 38–10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

This isn't the first time Jeffery has expressed blind optimism in the Bears' chances at glory. In September, he told the Atlantic that the "Bears are going to be on top."

"Trust me when I tell you," Jeffery told Jon Greenberg after the Bears' Sunday Night Football loss to the Dallas Cowboys. "Remember this date, Sunday Night Football. At the end of the year, the Bears are going to be on top. Believe that."

The question could be if Jeffery is even on the Bears' roster next season. Jeffery, 26, is due $14.5 million this season but is a free agent in 2017. He was suspended for four games this season for violating the league's performance enhancing drug policy.

Jeffery had 811 yards and two touchdowns on 51 catches this season. Last year he totaled 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns on 85 receptions.

The Bears haven't had a winning record since 2012 and have posted a 14-34 mark in the last three seasons.
