Atlanta Falcons electric wide receiver Julio Jones was unable to practice on Thursday, although coach Dan Quinn is optimistic that he'll have the All-Pro on the field Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

Jones was able to take part in the walkthrough on Thursday, but remained a spectator due to a turf toe injury as the team participated in drills.

"We're taking it step by step with Julio today and we're definitely hopeful for him," Quinn said.

Jones sustained the injury in the waning moments of Sunday's 29-28 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The setback dropped the Falcons (7-5) into a first-place tie in the NFC South with the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-5).

Jones has not missed a game this season despite dealing with various injuries. The 27-year-old leads the NFL with 1,253 receiving yards on 72 catches, and has five touchdowns.

Left tackle Jake Matthews (knee sprain) and No. 2 receiver Mohamed Sanu (groin) also were injured in Sunday's game. Matthews went through the walkthrough on Thursday but did not practice. Sanu did not practice as well on Thursday.
