Phillips, 25, was promoted to the active roster last Friday after being waived by the Redskins on Nov. 12 and re-signed to the practice squad three days later.

The undrafted former Tarleton State standout was inactive for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Phillips started the season as Washington's starting nickel cornerback before being benched.

Phillips played in three games (two starts) and recorded four tackles and a fumble recovery. He played six games as a rookie in 2015, logging one tackle.

Last January, Phillips left a game against the Dallas Cowboys with a sever neck injury and was carted off the field and hospitalized.
