NEW YORK, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- The days of having NFL football to watch every week on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday could be numbered.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported Sunday that the "NFL may pull plug on Thursday Night Football."

Florio cited that criticism of the quality of Thursday night games every week led to the discussions.

Florio reported that a "source with knowledge of the situation" said that the "league will be considering the possibility of ending, or at least limiting, Thursday Night Football."

CBS and NBC's current contract is through 2017. Changes to its current package could be made by 2018, according to Florio.

"We are fully committed to 'Thursday Night Football' and any reports to the contrary are unfounded," the league said in a statement to CNBC Monday.

Every team is required to play at least once on Thursday Night Football.

The Dallas Cowboys battle the Minnesota Vikings at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. The Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, and Philadelphia Eagles are the remaining teams with Thursday Night Football matchups.
