Anquan Boldin and four other NFL players will visit Congress in Washington D.C. on Wednesday to discuss race issues and police brutality with lawmakers.

The Detroit Lions wide receiver will be joined by teammate and safety Glover Quinn, Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown and wide receiver Andrew Hawkins, and Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins.

The group will meet with representatives Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.), Daniel Webster (R-Fla.) and potentially Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), as well as members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Boldin told ESPN he "wants to help close (the) gap" of "huge mistrust" between the African American community and the police.

McCown is the lone white player in the group and will be taking a listen-first approach.

"I don't believe we, as white people, can understand what African-Americans go through on a daily basis, because it's different," McCown told ESPN.

"For me, first and foremost, I want to be able to acknowledge that, and say that our stories are different and our histories are different, but let's just try to be a part of making it better moving forward."
