The Buffalo Bills addressed their ailing secondary by signing a familiar face in veteran safety James Ihedigbo.
Safety Duke Williams was released on Tuesday to make room for Ihedigbo, who played two seasons with the New York Jets under the direction of current Bills coach Rex Ryan.
Buffalo has been searching for a starting safety since Aaron Williams (neck) was placed on injured reserve Nov. 1. Veteran Robert Blanton has started in Williams' place over the last two games.
Ihedigbo, who will turn 33 next month, collected 62 tackles, one sack and one interception in 15 games last season with the Detroit Lions. He has 331 tackles, eight sacks and as many interceptions with nine forced fumbles in 113 career contests with the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Jets and Lions.
Williams, 26, made four tackles in nine games this season with the Bills.
