Fantasy Football: Tampa Bay Buccaneers lose RB Jacquizz Rodgers to sprained foot

By Alex Butler

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Dirk Koetter's stable of running backs is growing thin for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

On Sunday, the Buccaneers likely lost another sprinting sensation. Jacquizz Rodgers suffered a foot sprain in the Buccaneers' Week 8 loss to the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

"I don't think it's probably good," Koetter told reporters after the game. "But I don't know for sure. It's something to do with his ankle."

Rodgers, 26, has 393 yards and two touchdowns on 88 carries this season. With Doug Martin and Charles Sims already sidelined, the Buccaneers are left with rookie Peyton Barber and Antone Smith.

The team also will re-sign Mike James, according to multiple reports. Martin has been out since Week 2, with a hamstring injury, while Sims has been out since Week 4, with a knee injury.

Rodgers had 69 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, before leaving Sunday's game. He piled up 164 yards in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy football team owners are looking forward to the return of All-Pro running back Doug Martin. The Buccaneers face a short week, with a Thursday Night Football contest against the Atlanta Falcons. Koetter will be looking at a committee to replace the RB1, meaning none of the Buccaneers backs are likely attractive fantasy options this week.
