Jets wide receiver Eric Decker was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.

Decker hoped his partially torn rotator cuff would respond to rest and treatment, but after missing losses to the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers, the shoulder injury remains problematic.

Decker had nine receptions for 194 yards (21.6 yards per catch) and two touchdowns this season. The Jets have missed his presence in the offense, especially in the red zone. He's fourth in the NFL in touchdown receptions since 2012 and had at least one TD in 14 of 18 games since 2015.

Decker aggravated the shoulder injury during the Week 3 loss, 24-3, to the Chiefs. He told team officials of the increased pain and an MRI exam displayed that there was a tear.

To take his place on the 53-man roster, the Jets signed cornerback Nick Marshall, the former Auburn quarterback converted to the secondary.

Quincy Enunwa has replaced Decker alongside Brandon Marshall in the starting lineup and has 27 receptions for 294 yards through five games.
