Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller is paying immediate dividends on the six-year, $114.5 million contract he signed in July.

Miller recorded a league-best five sacks in September to win AFC Defensive Player of the Month honors, the league announced on Thursday. This represents the franchise-best third such honor for the Super Bowl 50 MVP, who has collected 12 tackles, six quarterback hits and one forced fumble for the Broncos (3-0).

New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Month. A first-time recipient, Blount has rushed for an NFL-best 298 yards and league high-tying four touchdowns for the Patriots (3-0).

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has thrown seven touchdown passes against one interception en route to be named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month winner. Ryan, who is 73 of 103 for 970 yards, owns an NFC-best 119.0 quarterback rating and has the upstart Falcons off to a 2-1 start.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox recorded three sacks in as many starts -- including two in Sunday's 34-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers -- to earn NFC Defensive Player of the Month. The 25-year-old Cox also had five of his nine tackles in Week 3 for the Eagles (3-0).

Washington Redskins kicker Dustin Hopkins and Baltimore Ravens veteran Justin Tucker have combined to make all 20 of their field-goal attempts to claim their respective conference's Special Teams Player of the Month honors. Hopkins drilled all 11 field-goal attempts and is a perfect 5-for-5 on extra-point tries while Tucker has made all four of his point-after touchdowns.
