DAVIE, Fla., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Former All-Pro running back Arian Foster has started 16 games just once in an eight-year NFL career.

It looks like that streak will continue in 2016 with the Miami Dolphins. Foster is expected to miss at least one game after injuring his groin Sunday against the New England Patriots. The 30-year-old running back is set to miss the Dolphins' home opener Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

On Monday, Dolphins coach Adam Gase said that Foster is day-to-day. On Tuesday, ESPN's Dan Graziano reported that the Dolphins are "cautiously optimistic" about Foster's latest blemish.

"They want to see how much he can practice this week, though they may not have a good idea about his status until Thursday or Friday," Graziano reported. "He got Wednesday off last week to rest his hamstring, and the team was planning to give him regular Wednesdays off anyway this season. So if he doesn't practice Wednesday, that doesn't necessarily mean much. The team is happy with its depth at the position and will move forward with some combination of Kenyan Drake, Jay Ajayi and Isaiah Pead on Sunday if Foster can't play."

Drake and Ajayi are two options that I included in my Week 3 add/drops column for waiver wire Wednesday. They could be valuable for bench depth in standard leagues and could find a spot in your starting lineup later in the season in deeper leagues.
