Two games, four losses for the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns dropped two games and it appears two quarterbacks in the process.
Robert Griffin III has a fractured bone in his left shoulder, an injury suffered in the opener and is likely to miss three months.
Josh McCown, who started the Week 2 loss at home to the Baltimore Ravens, is likely to head back to the sideline - or injured reserve - with a severe shoulder injury of his own. An MRI exam scheduled for Monday afternoon will determine Cleveland's course of action.
McCown, a journeyman who lost playing time in each of the past three seasons because of long-term injuries, is not ready to commit to sitting.
"For me, it's those things and just knowing the window for me right now and understanding that I don't want to miss snaps," he said. "I don't want to be out there without my guys. Unless it is going to fall off, let's try to make it work and make it go. That's my mentality."
Next up is rookie third-round pick Cody Kessler.
Kessler said he was over-prepared for Week 2 by design. Kessler was inactive Week 1 as the third quarterback behind Griffin and McCown. This week, he might not be a backup when the Browns visit the Miami Dolphins.
"It's a violent game and injuries happen and things you can't prevent,'' he said. "That's why I've been doing what I've been doing. If I had to go in and that opportunity came up, I didn't want to be freaking out. That's something that I've always done, even back in high school or going to USC when I wasn't the starter there.''
Cleveland could shop for a veteran quarterback but has another rookie, former Stanford starter Kevin Hogan, on the practice squad. Wide receiver Terrelle Pryor knows the offense - he started at quarterback for head coach Hue Jackson as a member of the Oakland Raiders.
"Last week I got more reps and I felt more comfortable getting to go in with the offense, instead of doing the scout team the whole time," Kessler said. "It's the mentality you have to have. I have to continue to prepare as the starter, and I told you guys that from Day 1.''
