LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Despite a 27-37-1 record in the last five seasons as its coach, the Los Angeles Rams are working to extend Jeff Fisher's contract.

"Source: [General Manager Les] Snead, Fisher extensions have yet to be finalized, but they are still expected to get done," ESPN's Alden Gonzalez tweeted Thursday.

The report followed ESPN's John Clayton's similar suggestion.

Clayton mentioned the possibility Tuesday on 710 ESPN Seattle.

"The word on the street, I don't know if they actually put it in one of the...because...they haven't really put out the Michael Brockers contract extension yet, because I know he just got a contract extension. I think they were gonna put at the bottom of the release that Jeff Fisher signed a 3-year extension," Clayton said.

Fisher has a 169-157-1 career record as head coach of the Rams, Tennessee Titans, and Houston Oilers. His career spans 22 years as a head coach. Fisher started his coaching career in 1986, as a defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fisher originally signed a five-year, $35 million contract. He is making $7 million in the deal's final year. The Rams lost 28-0 in Week 1 to the San Francisco 49ers. Fisher is 5-6 in 11 playoff appearances.
