FRISCO, Texas, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Maybe you selected him in the first round of your fantasy football draft. Maybe you just admired his crushing runs in his first NFL preseason.

Either way, it's hard to deny that Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is for real. Elliott also isn't short on confidence.

On Wednesday, he told reporters in the Cowboys locker room that he isn't just chasing a great season, but also Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record.

"I know a little bit about him," Elliott said, via ESPN's Jean-Jacques Taylor. "Eighteen hundred yards. We joke about it all the time. I told him I'm going to get it."

Dickerson said Elliott informed him of the challenge through his agent. Dickerson ran for 1,808 yards in 1983 for the Los Angeles Rams. Elliott was the fourth overall pick in April's draft.

Alfred Morris, who signed with the Cowboys offseason, George Rogers, and Dickerson are the only running backs to rush for more than 1,600 yards in their rookie seasons.

On Wednesday, Elliott told Dallas Cowboys senior writer Rob Phillips that he is "100 percent" recovered from training camp hamstring soreness. Earlier this week, Elliott was cleared of a domestic violence allegation, according to his father.

The 21-year-old signed a four-year, $24.9 million contract in May. The deal is fully guaranteed.
