SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Running back Carlos Hyde is expected to be fully cleared for the San Francisco 49ers' Monday opener.

On Wednesday he got closer to that goal by being cleared for football activity after suffering a concussion, according to Matt Maiocco. Hyde is still sporting a blue no-contact jersey.

Hyde had the concussion in the first half of the 49ers' Aug. 26 preseason game. He gained his first clearance for non-football activities Aug. 30.

On Sept. 3, 49ers coach Chip Kelly said Hyde was still in the concussion protocol.

Hyde, 24, rushed for 470 yards and one score on 115 carries last season, but only played seven games. In 2014, he played in 14 games, rushing for 333 yards on 83 carries. Fantasy football wise, Hyde could move into RB1 status, but is absolutely a solid RB2 against the Los Angeles Rams in a Monday Night Football match-up.
