KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Beware before heading into your fantasy football draft this weekend: Jamaal Charles is not yet a starting running back in the NFL.

On Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs made that official when coach Andy Reid said that Charles is "going to need a little time to work himself back," according to the Kansas City Star's Terez A. Paylor.

Paylor reported that Charles needs more time than defenders Eric Berry and Tamba Hali. Rotoworld verified Paylor's suggestion, reporting that Ware is "set to open season as lead back."

ESPN's Adam Teicher reported Thursday that Charles would not start Week 1. The Chiefs face the San Diego Chargers on Sept. 11.

Ware has worked consistently with the first team throughout camp. He should be considered a great sleeper and late round option in all leagues. Ware could work his way into low RB1/high RB2 status in week one as a top 15 running back.
