SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Sports world personalities aren't the only group with a stance on Colin Kaepernick's decision to protest the national anthem.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has something to say about it.

"I think it's — personally — not a good thing," Trump said on the "Dori Monson Show" Monday. "I think it's a terrible thing, and you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him. Let him try. It won't happen."

Kaepernick made news Friday when he decided to peacefully sit on the San Francisco 49ers bench during the playing of the national anthem before its Friday preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

The quarterback said he will continue to sit during the anthem until there is change in the United States.

On Saturday, Kaepernick was asked about Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

"I think the two presidential candidates that we currently have also represent the issues that we have in this country right now," Kaepernick told reporters, via CBS Sports. "You have Hillary [Clinton], who has called black teens or black kids super predators. You have Donald Trump, who is openly racist."

White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Monday that the White House disagrees with Kaepernick's "objectionable" perspective.

"In general, what I can say is that I certainly don't share the views that Mr. Kaepernick expressed after the game in explaining his reasoning for his actions," Earnest told reporters, via Yahoo News. "But we surely all acknowledge and even defend his right to express those views in the settings that he chooses. Even as objectionable as we find his perspective, he certainly is entitled to express them."

The 49ers wrap up its preseason at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 against the San Diego Chargers. On Monday, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported that Kaepernick could be cut from the 49ers before the season starts.
