The Buffalo Bills are expected to sign free agent running back Reggie Bush, who visited with the team Monday.

The Bills confirmed that Bush came in to take a physical. If he passes, Bush is expected to sign a contract and report to training camp in Pittsford, N.Y.

Bush would give the Bills added depth behind starter LeSean McCoy, who is expected to get limited reps in training camp after battling ankle issues during minicamp.

Backup running back Karlos Williams will miss the first four games of the season after receiving a suspension from the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Bush is a 10-year NFL veteran who played five games with the San Francisco 49ers last season before suffering a season-ending left knee injury when he slipped after being pushed out of bounds on a punt return.

Bush, the second overall pick by the New Orleans Saints in the 2006 NFL Draft out of USC, has topped 1,000 yards rushing twice, most recently in 2013 when he had 1,006 yards in 14 games with the Detroit Lions. He also rushed for 1,086 yards in 2011 with the Miami Dolphins.

Bush has 5,493 career yards rushing, 470 receptions for 3,508 yards and 53 offensive touchdowns.
