Embattled quarterback Johnny Manziel remains without a team as NFL training camps get set to open but he insists that he will return to pro football.

Manziel expressed to his fans and social media followers that he will "be back." He was let go by the Cleveland Browns after two distraction-marred seasons and told his Instagram followers that his career isn't over.

"You all write about a day in my life and what goes on...here it is. No secrets, no hiding, I'm not what you read about. I'll be back... In time. It can't end like this...it won't. I love you all even though your comments suck."

The Heisman Trophy winner from Texas A&M has been plagued by a list of issues that include drinking and a pending domestic assault case.

He also received a four-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy and could be disciplined further depending on how the court case plays out regarding a January incident with former girlfriend Colleen Crowley.

Manziel recently told the Washington Post that he's "actually doing well."

"I have good friends around me supporting what I do and I try to support them in what they want to do," Manziel said. "I'm not saying I'm never drinking again, but for now just mostly being healthy. I've got a killer gym in my house and I can spend time working out.

"I'm interested in doing a lot of different things in my life -- including football -- but, right now, I'm just exploring options and waiting to see what the future holds."

Manziel also apologized for disappointing Texas A&M fans with his off-field behavior during his two NFL seasons.

"I love A&M with all my heart. I'm truly sorry," Manziel said. "I'll do whatever I can to make it right. I'm an AGGGIE for life."
