CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 20 (UPI) -- Misery loves company, but the Golden State Warriors would probably rather see other people.

Following its 93-89 Game 7 loss Sunday to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Warriors' team Twitter account exploded with mentions. But one unique comment quickly gained popularity.

The NFL's Super Bowl runner-up Carolina Panthers sent the Warriors a heartfelt message that it basically knows the feeling of a heartbreaking loss following a terrific season.

But the message wasn't private; therefore it was open season for the NFL champion Denver Broncos to pile-on sharp comments at the duo of losers.

First, the Warriors said: "The Dubs fall short as Cleveland wins the series, 4-3." The Panthers responded with: "We know how you feel, friend. First round is on us."

Two hours later, the Broncos tweeted a video of Steve Harvey saying: "Sorry about that."

The Panthers were 15-1 last season before falling in Super Bowl 50, while the Warriors broke the NBA's regular-season wins record before being bounced with a blemish. Similarly, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was the NFL MVP, while the Warriors' Stephen Curry was the NBA MVP.
