Roddy White: Former Atlanta Falcons receiver says contender or bust

ATLANTA, June 10 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Falcons' best wide receiver of all time was released last month.

Now Roddy White is saying he might not be finished with football. White would keep playing, if he is signed by a contender.

"I'm considering playing for a winner, but if I'm not I'm fine just where I'm at right now," White told ESPN.

White, 34, is the all-time receiving leader in receiving yards, catches and touchdowns for the Falcons. He has been working out in Atlanta.

"I've got the kid obligations for the summer and vacations I have to do," White told ESPN.

"I would love to [retire a Falcon], when that time comes," White said. "I've been in Atlanta one-third of my life, so it's been sweet."

Last season, White scored just one touchdown and had 506 yards on 43 receptions, despite starting 16 games for the Falcons. Those numbers were his worst since 2006, when he started just five games.

"When my agent and I went down the list and I saw the teams that really needed wide receivers, I was like, 'Wow, I really don't want to go there,'" White told the Journal-Constitution. "I knew I couldn't win with any of those teams. At this point of my career, I don't want to be dragging my feet in Week 13 just to have an opportunity to be 4-10 next week."

White had a base salary of $2.2 million last season and $1.4 million roster bonus.
