ASHBURN, Va., April 22 (UPI) -- The Washington Redskins immediately got better Friday, when the team signed free agent cornerback Josh Norman.
Norman signed a five-year, $75 million deal after visiting Redskins Park Friday, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
The deal includes $50 million in guarantees, the highest of any cornerback in the NFL.
Norman, 28, was set to be franchise tagged by the Carolina Panthers before the team rescinded the tag Wednesday. The New Orleans Saints were also mentioned as finalists in the Norman sweepstakes. The Redskins appeared to be the most eager team to sign the All-Pro from the start, as it offered him a deal Wednesday.

"#HAIL," Norman tweeted.
Last season, Norman made a splash with his flag-ridden duel against New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Now the two will battle at least twice this season. He'll also face Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant twice this season. Norman is set to face Pittsburgh Steelers star Antonio Brown in the team's first game, Bryant in its second, and OBJ in third. Norman will face-off against the Panthers in week 15.
