Arizona Cardinals' Tyrann Mathieu knows alleged killer of Will Smith

PHOENIX, April 10 (UPI) -- Defensive playmaker Tyrann Mathieu spoke from a unique place when he called the alleged killer of Will Smith a "coward."

Mathieu admitted to personally knowing the man who allegedly shot and killed Smith Saturday in New Orleans.

He went on Twitter to vent about the incident, where he called out alleged suspect Cardell Hayes.

"I know that dude, he been a hating [expletive] coward...Never knew he'd grow up to be a killer tho...May you get what you deserve coward," Mathieu tweeted.

"Mathieu also tweeted: "All they have is music to influence them, and if you listen closely to music now a days, it's brainwashing them to believe drugs and killing."

"Are the cool thing to do which is why I'm dropping an album...Cause that [expletive] ain't cool, cool is being a father and being able to provide."

"Cool is facing adversity and having GOD having a place in your heart and world."

"Cool is handling things like men not like cowards..."

Mathieu also ranted about how kids cant go to parks because of budget cuts into "education and recreation." He also mentioned how "half of their fathers are in prison."

The Cardinals drafted Mathieu in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. The 23-year-old cornerback was selected as a first team All-Pro last season. Mathieu has eight interceptions, two forced fumbles, two sacks, and 182 tackles in 40 career games.
