Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy looks lean

GREEN BAY, Wis., March 25 (UPI) -- With the career lifespan of a running back dwindling in years, it didn't take much for Eddie Lacy to take the Green Bay Packers at its word.

After registering career-lows in carries, yards, touchdowns, and yards per attempt, the team told Lacy to lose some weight.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported in February that the team "wants Eddie Lacy to lose 30 pounds."

Rapoport relayed that Lacy was committed to the cause, doing it through training camp or a fitness program.

On Thursday, a fan posted a picture with Lacy, who appears noticeably trimmer. Lacy likely played last season at a weight higher than the 234 pounds listed on the Packers roster. He appears to be back down to near his rookie weight of 220 pounds.

In that 2013 rookie season, Lacy ran 284 times for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns. He followed that by rushing 246 times for 1,139 yards and 13 total scores in his sophomore campaign. Lacy, 25, was the 2013 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

"He looked really fit and looked like he lost a lot of weight," Jeff Engen, that man with Lacy in the photo, wrote in an email to the Journal Sentinel. "Eddie was eating fish, was really friendly and conducting himself as a class act....

"I'm 5-9, 185 pounds and he is much thinner than me," Engen wrote.

In his last press conference of the season last year, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that Lacy "cannot play at the weight that he played at this year."

P90X Founder Tony Horton tweeted that he would help Lacy in January. The Packers selected Lacy with the No. 61 pick in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
