ST. LOUIS, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Its pitfalls on the field fail to compare to the St. Louis Rams' biggest off-field headline.

And now it looks like football has been taken from wide receiver Stedman Bailey.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher told Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that "health-wise it looks like Bailey will not be able to play football again." Thomas said Fisher did not elaborate.

Bailey, 25, was shot twice in the head in November. He was involved in a shooting on Nov. 24 near his home in Miami Gardens, Florida.

"My recovery has been nothing short of a miracle (a work of GOD) and I can only give GOD the praise, glory and honor for what his is doing in my life at this time," Bailey said on Twitter. "Christmas is a holiday in which Jesus was born as a gift to the world but in all honesty he has given me and my family a gift which is far greater than what any man can give, a restoration of my life and health."

Bailey was originally placed on the league's suspended list for four-games, for violating its substance abuse policy, but had the suspension lifted. The Rams will place him on the non-football injury list.

"We'll take care of Sted," Fisher told ESPN Monday. "He comes off, he's eligible to play, but by no means is he in any kind of condition to play."

Bailey was selected No. 92 overall, in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Rams. Since being taken out of West Virginia, Bailey has 59 receptions for 843 yards and two touchdowns. Bailey also has one career rushing score and returned a punt for a 90-yard touchdown last year.
