TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- A pick-six on his first attempt wasn't the best start to Jameis Winston's pro career, but now the rookie is heating up.

The NFL announced Thursday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was named offensive rookie of the month for November.

Winston completed 96 of 169 passes for 1,179 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions while running 15 times for 75 yards and three touchdowns, while leading the Buccaneers to a 3-2 record last month.

On Nov. 22, Winston tied the NFL rookie record and Buccaneers team record with five touchdown passes against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Winston is the third Buccaneers quarterback to win the award, after Shaun King in 1999 and Mike Glennon in 2013.

"Jameis is unbelievable how quick he can look at a game plan, take it out on the field and just in a walk-through – it really is impressive," Bucs offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter told Buccaneers.com. "That's one thing that has amazed me and I'm not easily amazed. That has really amazed me about how fast he can pick things up. It's not just lip service when he gets up there and talks about learning and getting better. He is really into it and he's a fast learner."

Winston, 21, has completed 203-of-350 passes for 2,650 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 11 games this season for the 5-6 Buccaneers.
