DALLAS, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Former NFL linebacker Bart Scott took to the CBS Sports Radio airwaves Thursday to talk about the behavior of the polarizing player in Dallas.

"I see a guy that's immature, and I see a guy that just doesn't get it," Scott said. "I'm hoping he gets it and somebody can be man enough to pull him aside and give him the cold, hard facts: Listen, you're a talented player, but there's plenty of talented players in this league, and the league will survive without you."

"Once the owners and the NFL decide to say they've had enough of you, they've had enough of you. It doesn't matter what you can do as far as rushing the passer. Ask Ray Rice. In a couple years, you're going to get a little older and you're going to hurt yourself or you're going to hurt somebody else. You're going to have a regrettable moment that you can't take back – and something that you love and work hard and are passionate about is going to be taken away from you. I think you've got some mental health issues. I think you need to get evaluated."

Hardy's outburst came during a 27-20 loss to the New York Giants. Hardy, 27, was seen knocking a clipboard from a coach's hand and arguing with the special teams unit and wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Scott, 35, added that if he and his former Baltimore Ravens teammates were in a locker room with Hardy, things might be going differently.

"I would tell him, "Listen, man, I hear your point, but here are ours," Scott said. "We have a brand. We have a way of doing business around here. Listen, you can play in this league, I'm sure, but you can't play here if you're going to be like that. You represent all of us. This is our brand. This is how we do business. This is a defensive team. We're together. We all pull this rope one way. If you can't pull that way, bro, bye. Simple as that. Love you, but bye."

Scott totaled 732 tackles, 25 sacks and four interceptions in 11 seasons with the Ravens and New York Jets.

Hardy has 148 tackles and 37 sacks in 65 career games for the Carolina Panthers and Cowboys. This season he has three sacks in two games.

Hardy returned to the team Oct. 11 after his 10 game suspension without pay for "conduct detrimental to the league" was reduced to four games.
