Feb. 4 (UPI) -- The Dallas Mavericks agreed to trade shooting guard Quentin Grimes to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for small forward Caleb Martin, a league source told UPI on Tuesday.

Grimes, the No. 25 overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2021 NBA Draft, was traded to the New York Knicks a day after his selection. The Knicks traded Grimes to the Detroit Pistons in 2024. The Pistons traded Grimes to the Mavericks in July.

He is set to hit free agency this off-season.

Martin signed a four-year, $35 million deal in July. He spent his previous three seasons with the Miami Heat. Martin spent his first two seasons with the Charlotte Hornets. He averaged a career-high 10 points per game last season for the Heat.

Grimes averaged a career-high 11.3 points per game for the Knicks in 2022-23.

The Mavericks (26-24), who recently traded away star point guard Luka Doncic as part of a blockbuster deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz, sit in the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference.

Martin is expected to join star guard Kyrie Irving in the Mavericks backcourt. That duo will be joined by center Daniel Gafford and forwards Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis, who joined the Mavericks in the Doncic deal.

The 76ers (19-29) are the No. 11 team in the Eastern Conference. They will host the Mavericks at 7 p.m. EST Tuesday in Philadelphia.
