Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Wednesday night's game between the Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls at FedExForum in Memphis has been postponed because of the NBA's health and safety protocols.
The league said in a statement Sunday that the game is being pushed back due to contact tracing within the Grizzlies organization, and because Memphis will not be able to practice before the scheduled game against the Bulls.
League sources told ESPN that the Grizzlies have no new players entered into the health and safety protocols, but the NBA continues to take a cautious approach with their return. Memphis' next scheduled game is Saturday in San Antonio against the Spurs.
Wednesday's postponement will be the Grizzlies' fifth straight and sixth overall, matching the Washington Wizards for the most in the league. The Wizards returned to the court Sunday for their first game in 13 days after multiple positive COVID-19 tests and subsequent contact tracing.
The Grizzlies have a 7-6 record this season. Memphis last played on Jan. 18 against the Phoenix Suns.
