Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Atlanta Hawks rookie Trae Young filled up the stat sheet and also nutmegged LeBron James with two separate passes during a win against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Young's first five-hole feed did not result in a basket, but awed fans in the third quarter of the Hawks' 117-113 triumph Tuesday at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The Hawks led 87-85 when Young was working with teammate Omari Spellman on a pick and roll at the top of the 3-point arc. Spellman pealed away from the play, but James was facing up with Young and blocking his passing lane.

That forced Young to get creative.

The No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft decided to dip into his bag, bouncing a pass between the legs of the four-time NBA MVP. Young's feed hit Spellman in stride as he broke toward the rim. The 6-foot-9 forward did not make the shot attempt, but he did draw a foul from Kyle Kuzma during the sequence.

Spellman made one of the two resulting free throws, giving the Hawks a three-point advantage. The Hawks' star rookie returned for seconds in the spice aisle with 35 seconds remaining in the quarter. That time Young faced up with James without the help of a pick. He fired another pass between James' legs, but John Collins was fouled on the entry pass. Collins made his two resulting free throws.

Young scored 22 points and had 14 assists and six rebounds in the win. James scored a game-high 28 points and had 16 assists and 11 rebounds in the loss.

"It was definitely surreal the first time, but at the same time I feel like I belong here," Young told reporters when asked about facing James. "I feel like I'm a part of this league. He has obviously done tremendous things, one of the best players of all time. But when we get on the court, I'm trying to compete and trying to get a win."

Young is averaging 16.9 points, 7.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game during his rookie campaign.
