Russell Westbrook has 10th straight triple-double to pass Wilt Chamberlain

Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook added to his historic run with another triple-double Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Westbrook had 21 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in the team's 120-111 win over the Trail Blazers, notching his 10th straight game with a triple-double.

With his 10-game streak, Westbrook broke the single-season mark for consecutive triple-doubles. He previously tied Hall of Fame center Wilt Chamberlain, who registered nine straight in 1968.

"I just go play the game the right way. I go out and compete every night and leave it on the floor. Whatever happens, happens," Westbrook told the team's official website. "Definitely an unbelievable moment. ... Each moment for me is a blessing. Each time I walk in this locker room and see my name up there is a blessing. That's an unbelievable moment in itself.

"To be able to just wake up, have a job, have a jersey, have a name on your back. To me, that's a blessing in itself and something I never even dreamed about as a kid."

Westbrook clinched his latest feat with an assist to teammate Paul George on a 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter. George also had a triple-double with 47 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. It was his first triple-double since the 2013-14 season.

Westbrook and George became the first teammates in NBA history to tally 20-point triple-doubles in the same contest.

The Thunder moved to 37-19 this season after the win and sit in the No. 3 spot in the Western Conference.
