Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Atlanta Hawks fans greeted Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James with chants of "Kobe's better" during Tuesday night's matchup.

James got to the free throw line before the end of the first quarter. Hawks fans decided to have fun with James and began to chant at the three-time NBA champion.

The State Farm Arena crowd showed its support of former Lakers star Kobe Bryant at the expense of James, who missed the first free throw before draining the second.

Bryant had a successful career with the Lakers, winning five NBA titles with the franchise. Bryant averaged 25.0 points per game, 5.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists in his career. He was the league's MVP in 2008.

Bryant retired from the NBA after the 2016 season.

James missed time this season after suffering a groin injury during the Lakers' Christmas Day game against the Golden State Warriors. The four-time NBA MVP missed 17 games with the groin problem before returning against the Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 31.

The Lakers trailed the Hawks 107-100 with under eight minutes left in Tuesday's contest. James had 21 points, 15 assists and eight rebounds to that point.
