Jazz star Donovan Mitchell dunks half-court alley oop

Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Donovan Mitchell wowed the crowd in Salt Lake City with a half-court alley oop during the Utah Jazz's win against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Christmas Day dunk came with about five minutes remaining in the first quarter of the 117-96 victory on Tuesday at Vivint Smart Home Arena. Utah led 14-12 when Kyle Korver intercepted a pass intended for Damian Lillard.

Korver then threw a pass to Jae Crowder. The veteran forward took a dribble before spotting Mitchell running toward the rim. Crowder launched a half-court pass, finding Mitchell as he jumped through the paint. Mitchell snagged the ball and smashed it through the rim, giving the Jazz a four-point edge.

"The catch was easy," Mitchell told reporters.

"It was the turning around and trying to find the rim. I didn't know where I was. I didn't know if I was going to airball the dunk, dunk nothing. So it was kind of like praying to God that it was right there and it was. A Christmas gift from God for sure."

Mitchell led the Jazz with 19 points. Lillard netted a game-high 20 points for Portland. The Jazz host the Philadelphia 76ers at 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Salt Lake City.
