Curry poured in 13 shots from downtown in 2013. Thompson swished in 14 3-pointers during the Warriors' 140-124 victory against the Chicago Bulls on Monday at the United Center in Chicago. Thompson finished the game with 52 points and five rebounds. Curry chipped in 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in the victory.
"I just knew I was due for a big night. I just knew it," Thompson told reporters. ... "I've been shooting a great percentage from the 3-point line, so I knew it was going to fall eventually. And you know, once I started clicking it just shows what our team is made of. We were still winning games when I wasn't shooting that well. I always look at the bright side and it was eventually going to come."
Thompson made his first four shots and had six 3-pointers in the first quarter. He hit four more 3-pointers in the second quarter. He hit his 14th shot from downtown in the third quarter.
The 52-point performance was the highest-scoring night for a player so far during the 2018 NBA season, besting the 51-point night from Curry Wednesday against the Washington Wizards.
Thompson and the Warriors host the New Orleans Pelicans at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
