May 19 (UPI) -- Devin Booker tweeted out a photo of his former University of Kentucky teammate Karl-Anthony Towns wearing a Phoenix Suns jersey, fueling trade rumors.

ESPN reported Friday that Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves are currently "not in a good place internally." That report made its way into NBA circles.

Booker tweeted a photo Friday night of Towns wearing a No. 1 Suns jersey (Booker's number). He posted a sly looking emoji for the caption.

Towns and Booker played together on the 2014-2015 Kentucky Wildcats squad, which went 38-1, losing in the Final Four to Wisconsin.

But Booker wasn't the only player buoying for Towns to join his squad. Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine also posted a photo of Towns. His Twitter post used Booker's photo, with some minor edits.

LaVine crossed out Suns and wrote Bulls. He also wrote his No. 8 over Booker's No. 1. He included a sly looking emoji and a thumbs up for his caption.

Fans then took over, editing Towns into other jerseys from around the league, including: the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors and others.

Towns, 22, made his first All-Star team in 2017. He averaged 21.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game for the Timberwolves. Towns has started every game for the Timberwolves since being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He is due $7.8 million next season and has a $10.1 million qualifying offer for the 2019-2020 campaign.
