LeBron recalls fourth quarter sequence with photographic memory

May 14 (UPI) -- Four-time MVP LeBron James showed off his photographic basketball memory when a reporter asked him "what happened" during a loss to the Boston Celtics.

James put his basketball brain on full display during his postgame news conference following the Cleveland Cavaliers' 108-83 Eastern Conference finals setback to the Celtics Monday at TD Garden in Boston, Mass.

Rodney Hood made a finger roll layup, cutting the Celtics' lead to 17 points with 9:38 remaining in the game. The Celtics then went on an 11-0 run over the next 2:29 to take a 96-68 edge.

The Cavaliers entered the quarter facing a 14-point deficit, before conceding an early dunk to Marcus Morris. James broke down the sequence immediately before the Celtics' decisive scoring run.

"What happened? On the first possession we ran them down all the way to two on the shot clock," James told reporters. "Marcus Morris missed the jump shot, followed it up and they got a dunk. We came back down, we ran a set for Jordan Clarkson and he came off and missed it."

"They rebounded it and we came back on the defensive end and we got a stop. They took it out on the sideline. Jayson Tatum took the ball out, threw it to Marcus Smart in the short corner and he made a three. We came back down and missed another shot."

"Then Tatum came down and went 94 feet, did a Euro-step and made a right hand layup. Timeout."

"There you go."

Reporters in the room laughed and gave James a round of applause after his impressive reply. James held his hand up and shrugged after regurgitating the sequence.

James scored 15 points and had nine assists, seven rebounds, seven turnovers and two blocks in the loss. Kevin Love led the Cavaliers with 17 points.

Jaylen Brown scored a game-high 23 points and had eight rebounds for Boston. Morris had 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals tips off at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Boston.
