Celtics' Jaylen Brown has nasty fall on dunk, says he has headache

March 9 (UPI) -- Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown had a brutal fall after throwing down a dunk against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Celtics won the matchup 117-109 Thursday at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Brown was running the court with 1:33 remaining in the third quarter when the scary sequence occurred. He ran through the paint before sending in a two-handed slam in front of Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins.

But Brown held onto the rim as his momentum swung his body forward. He let go of the rim and his body crashed to the floor, with the back of his head drilling the court below.

Brown had 14 points and five rebounds in 28 minutes. Kyrie Irving led the Celtics with 23 points. Irving also had eight assists and seven rebounds. Nemanja Bjelica led all scorers with 30 points for the Timberwolves.

Brown was evaluated for a concussion and taken to a hospital for a CT scan and additional testing after the fall, according to Celtics coach Brad Stevens.

"It was just a scary fall from everyone's perspective," Irving told reporters after the game.

"You never wanna see a guy go down like that. He was doing a full on back flip after he fell off the rim and you know some guys land on their back when things happen like that. It's just their hands get slippery or guys are just underneath them and scary falls happen like that. You just never wanna see that happen especially to a teammate of yours."

Brown updated his status on Friday morning.

"Appreciate everybody. I'm ok," Brown tweeted morning. "Got a headache though. Good team win!"

The Celtics host the Indiana Pacers at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at TD Garden in Boston. Brown is averaging 14.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season.
