Raptors make crazy buzzer-beater dunk, but lose in OT

By Alex Butler

Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Toronto Raptors big man Jonas Valanciunas made a buzzer-beater dunk, but his team still lost in overtime.

The action went down with three seconds to go in the fourth quarter of the Raptors' 122-119 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks Friday at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

The Raptors trailed 110-108 when swingman C.J. Miles threw in a pass from the sideline to the 7-foot Lithuanian. Valanciunas stood at the top of the key and pretended like was was going to hand it back to Miles and set a screen for his teammate. Instead of giving the ball up, he ducked inside the paint and ran for the rim.

The only thing standing in his way was 6-foot-11 Bucks big-man John Henson. But Valanciunas disregarded Henson, jumping up and throwing down a vicious one-handed slam right in his face. The throw down barely beat the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.

Milwaukee eventually got a go-ahead jump shot from Giannis Antetokounmpo for a late lead and eventual victory.

DeMar DeRozan netted a game-high 33 points for the Raptors. Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 26 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Valanciunas had 10 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes.
