Kyle Lowry on Ben Simmons fight: 'I guess he thinks he's somebody'

By Alex Butler

Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Toronto Raptors star Kyle Lowry reportedly tried to 'pursue' Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons after the players were ejected Monday.

The basketball stars were each kicked out with 6.5 seconds remaining in the 76ers' 117-111 win at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. They exchanged verbal jabs and intense glares while being booted from the contest. Simmons appeared to motion to Lowry that the two needed to meet under the arena on their way to their respective locker rooms.

Lowry scored 13 points and had seven rebounds in the defeat. Simmons put in 12 points and had four assists for the 76ers.

WIP reported that there was an "altercation" between the players in the hallway after the ejections. A source told Fox Sports Australia that Lowry "tried to pursue Simmons." The source added that Simmons went straight to the locker room and the two never made contact.

The 76ers' postgame availability is usually held in the locker room, but was instead held in the conference room due to a "leak in the locker room," according to the Philly Voice.

"It's nothing," said Simmons, who also told reporters that he did not meet Lowry in the tunnel.

"Honestly, I don't know...Maybe frustration that they were down, about to lose," he said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I don't know if they are trying to test me or see how I am on the court. But I won't play around. I'm not gonna take [expletive] from anybody."

Lowry's comments were a bit sharper regarding the incident.

"I don't know," he told the Toronto Sun. "I guess he thinks he's somebody."

The Raptors and 76ers do not play each other again this season.
