The Warriors won the matchup 124-114 Thursday at the Toyota Center in Houston, but Paul provided the most viral segment of the contest.
With about 6:53 remaining in the game, Paul took the ball at the 3-point line. He knew he had a speed and quickness advantage on West immediately, as Paul is listed at 6-foot, 175 pounds and West stands at 6-foot-9, 250 pounds.
Paul wiggled with few crossovers at the top of the arc, before diving into the paint. He stopped on a dime, forcing West to fall awkwardly to his left. Paul then casually hit a jumper at the free throw line, making the score 108-100 Warriors. West appeared to land on the side of his left foot when he tried to stop himself to defend Paul, possibly rolling his ankle.
Paul scored 28 points and had nine assists and seven rebounds in the loss. West logged just 11 minutes and scored 12 points. Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon led all scorers with 30 points, while Warriors forward Draymond Green logged a triple-double with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.
Paul and West were teammates on the New Orleans Hornets from 2005 through the 2010 season.
