A semi-truck hauling a dumpster plunged into the swimming pool of the southwest Portland home owned by Trail Blazers guard Evan Turner, leading to the driver needing to be rescued by emergency responders.

Authorities said the unidentified driver lost control on a hairpin curve and found himself down a hill and submerged in the pool on Wednesday.

One responder kept the driver's head out of the water, while others used the "Jaws of Life" to remove the steering column that had pinned the driver inside the cab. At least eight people were involved in the rescue attempt, a Portland Fire & Rescue spokeswoman told The Oregonian.

"I wasn't aware that the driver was injured or how badly," Turner said Wednesday through a team spokesman. "But I'm obviously grateful that the first responders were able to rescue him and I hope and pray he'll be fine."

The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to Oregon Health and Science University Medical Center for treatment, according to The Oregonian.
