Los Angeles Lakers center Brook Lopez has a moderate right ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in three weeks, the team announced on Tuesday.

Lopez rolled his ankle while contesting a shot from behind in the second quarter of Monday's 116-114 overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors.

X-rays were negative and an MRI exam confirmed the severity of the injury for Lopez, who exited Staples Center wearing a walking boot and using crutches.

Lopez is averaging 12.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 28 games this season since being acquired in a trade from the Brooklyn Nets in June.

The 29-year-old has averaged 18.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in his career since being selected by then-New Jersey with the 10th overall pick of the 2008 draft.
