An MRI exam on New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis' injured right ankle was negative, ESPN reported on Thursday, citing sources.

Porzingis sustained the injury after Miami forward Justise Winslow stepped on his right foot during the first quarter of Wednesday's 115-86 win over the Heat.

New York later announced that X-rays on Porzingis' ankle were negative and that he was able to return. By then, the Knicks were already comfortably ahead.

Porzingis averages 25.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and a league-best 2.1 blocks per game for the Knicks (11-10), who return to game action on Sunday when the Orlando Magic visit Madison Square Garden.
