WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards point guard John Wall is expected to miss about two weeks due to left knee discomfort and inflammation, the team announced Saturday.

Wall underwent an MRI exam Friday after experiencing inflammation. He initially was injured from knee-to-knee contact in the game against the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 7.

"We felt like this was the best thing," Washington coach Scott Brooks said before Saturday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. "We figure this is the early part of the season, and we're in no rush. Give him the best chance to come back."

The 27-year-old Wall sat out a loss to the Toronto Raptors on Nov. 19 due to knee soreness but played the past two games, including scoring 31 points in Wednesday night's 129-124 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.

"Following consultation with Dr. Richard D. Parker at the Cleveland Clinic Marymount and Wizards Head Team Physician Wiemi Douoguih, Wall will receive PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and viscosupplementation injections to reduce the inflammation in his left knee," the Wizards said in a press release.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Wall is averaging 20.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16 games this season. He leads the Wizards and is third in the NBA with 9.2 assists per game.
